Educational Multimedia Research Centre EMMRC
The University Grant Commission (UGC) has setup 21 Educational Multimedia Research Centres (EMMRC’s) popularly called media centres across the country. These are basically designed for production of quality educational T.V. programmes/e-content and MOOC etc. EMRC -Sagar is one of the vibrant and prestigious centre among 22 Media Centres in the country and is established in Dr. Harisingh Gour University by the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 31st Jan.1994 among UGC, New Delhi; Consortium of Educational Communication (CEC), New Delhi and Dr. Harisingh Gour University, Sagar (M.P.) Though this Media Centre is like any other department of this University but owing to its different kind of job-description, it is constituted as an Academic, Non-vacation centre with administrative, academic, financial and budgetary autonomy in its functioning.
The EMMRC, Sagar is prestigious Media Centre of the UGC, CEC, New Delhi and Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar and functions under the direct supervision of the BoM. The primary objectives of this Media Centre is to produce ETV and multimedia based programmes for the furtherance of quality education at college and university levels throughout India and dissemination of knowledge through 24x7 Vyas higher Education T.V. channel and SWAYAMPRABHA 32 DTH channels. ETV Programs of EMMRC Sagar is also available on www.cec.nic.in, all govt. websites, portal & DTH Platforms (www.swayamprabha.gov.in)
EMRC Sagar programmes serve to upgrade, update and enrich the quality of education. To accomplish its mission of producing quality ETV programmes, EMMRC, Sagar merges best expertise of subject specialists from the host Dr. Harisingh. Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar. So far EMMRC Sagar has produced 2662 educational T.V. programs in the field of Pharmacy, Forensic Science, Criminology, Botany, Geology, Sanskrit, Environmental Science, Sociology, Performing Art, Yogic Science, Fine Art, History, Hindi Literature, English Literature, Journalism, Law, Music, Zoology, Rural development, Folklore, Chemistry etc. This centre is pioneer in the field of MOOC development and its production so far this centre has developed 20 MOOCs and over 10,000 students have been enrolled in the MOOCs via SWAYAM portal of MHRD. In addition to assigned work of CEC, this centre has recorded GIAN related video programmes also.
